When I thought about this week’s theme, instantly the O’Jays and Patti Labelle came to mind, but after doing some research I also found out that Teddy Pendagrass, Delfonics, and the Stylistics were also a product of the Philadelphia Soul Movement. So I decided that I will cheat somewhat and turn my attention to the Philly Neo-Soul movement, and the queen of that movement is none other than Jill Scott.

I can’t tell you which of the above is true, but I have been looking at the pictures and I know I sound psycho, but you cannot convince me that Beyonce isn’t pregnant or hasn’t been pregnant. I know a pregnant woman when I see one. According to my source, this is not the first time, either. Mums the word. She has been wearing the oddest choices in clothing for months now. I know rumors always circulate, but the proof is in the pudding. It’s not just weight gain, because Beyonce would be in the gym by now knocking the weight off and proving us wrong as she has done time and time again. So I didn’t want to do Prince, and I didn’t want to do Jimi Hendrix again, so I decided it was time for my alter ego to shine. I am a complicate woman, and I like a lot of things, and although I am a juke joint baby, I’m also the product of an all girl private school where I was one of only three blacks in my class, and so I have an eclectic and sometimes eccentric mix of music and styles. The Daily Kos is a liberal blog, even more left than I would ever dream to be. While reading over at Electronic Village, I came across this picture. After a moment of shock I had to research and find out what was going on at the Daily Kos. Apparently they feel the Republicans are unfairly attacking Michelle Obama (I couldn’t agree more) by taking her words out of context and painting her as un-American, whatever that means. So the Daily Kos likened the Republican party to the Ku Klux Klan, and actually photshopped a picture to drive their point. However, the Daily Kos, in my opinion, went too far by actually depicting Michelle Obama as a Ku Klux Klan victim. Am I the only one that feels this was unnecessary? If you saw this picture out of context what would you think?

I hope this is a made up rumor, and I have to cite the source because I haven’t found any supporting evidence. According to TheYBF.com Usher filed for separation from Tameka 3 weeks ago. Normally I don’t get caught up in idle gossip (ok that’s a lie, I just don’t usually post it) but this one is too shocking to keep to myself. Although I love to pick on Tameka, it’s nice to see Usher trying to step up and do the right thing. Marriage is hard and he’s had to battle so many demons once he became involved with her. What do you think, do you think it’s just a rumor? I’ve seen them together a lot lately. I’m sure we will find out the truth soon. Anyway to read more click here…

According to SFGate.com Beyonce finally acknowledges she married and that a wedding did take place. After reading the quote, I’m not so sure “it” refers to the wedding or just to their relationship. Anyway this is what she had to say about the matter:
“I don’t deny it (the wedding). I just don’t talk about it. We’ve never talked about us and it’s kind of protected our relationship. I think it’s kept us out of the tabloid drama. A lot of actresses that have had successful relationships don’t talk about them, so neither do I.”

I know many of you have seen these pictures already, but I’m still in awe. As I came across these new pictures, I was amazed at the turn out. 75,000 people came out to support Barack Obama in Oregon. After the West Virginia Primary, I knew racism was alive, I just didn’t know that nearly 20% would have the courage to admit that they didn’t vote for Obama because he was black, or as one woman put it: “of the other race.” In Kentucky one man believed Obama was part of a sleeper cell, and that he was a Muslim ready to attack when the time came. Then I realize, they are the rural uneducated poverty stricken voters for a reason, they rather vote against their best interest than vote for something different. I’m not saying this because Obama didn’t win West Virginia, I’m saying this because those interviewed said race and religion was the factor. I know all these people don’t represent the state of West Virginia, but 20% is a high number.
Then there is Oregon, where people are more educated…I’m just saying…Wow!

This song was one of my mom’s favorite, and last week was her birthday and mother’s day. This past week was hard, my cousin (36) died of cancer, less than a year after my mom. His funeral was the day before mother’s day and three days before my moms birthday. While I was in Mississippi, my grandmother, uncle, and I picked out my mother’s headstone. Me being me, it’s the largest and brightest (pink) thing in the cemetery, because I know that’s the way my mom would have liked it. She loved to shine and people were drawn to her for sense of humor. Anyway my pastor sings this song really well, and in honor of her, I give you my Sunday Inspirations entry, My Soul Has Been Anchored. Thank you SJP for such a wonderful meme.

Meagan Good was spotted at the Crown Club in Hollywood, and she looks amazing as always. I have a girl crush on Meagan, if it wasn’t for all the plastic surgery she would be the cutest thing in Hollywood, but that award would have to go to someone a bit more natural. I need to hit the gym, so that I can rock some shorts like that. Oh wait! What am I thinking, I’m a mother now, I got to get the shorts that come to my knees.

Beyonce comes out to support her man at an exclusive party held at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in NYC. Unfortunately, there are no signs of marriage as they both decide to hide their hands on the red carpet. How much effort do they put into not appearing like a normal couple in love? I understand why they try, but I can tell you it doesn’t keep us away, it makes us hungry for more. No one bothers Will and Jada and they are open about their marriage, at times too open.
On another note, Beyonce lit up the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala. She was in fact Pretty In Pink, to say the least. I love this look on Beyonce, it was classy and sophisticated.

This second video comes from one of my favorite movies from childhood. It only came on TV once, but I loved this movie so much I wore out the VHS. The name of it was Polly, and it was Directed by Debbie Allen. The movie Polly has so many women in it to admire, including Vanessa Bell Calloway, who is not only a great dancer, but also a great singer. Here’s to poise, spirit, and class.

This gets stranger by the moment, if it wasn’t for the album coming out, I might believe this is legit, but it must be a publicity stunt. If not, Mariah may be headed for meltdown #2. According to several new outlets, Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey got married in the Bahamas on Wednesday in an “impulsive”, yet private ceremony. I won’t believe it until it’s a legal civil union, with a marriage certificate and the judge’s signature. Congrats, I think! Thanks Marvalus for the tip. [Source]…

Kim Porter the on and off, but mostly on again girlfriend of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is on the cover of Jet with their beautiful twin daughters, D’ Lila and Jesse. Part of me says this woman is crazy, and the other part of me says this woman is rich. Love and money will make you do some crazy things. However, these babies are so cute and I know we will see them grow into beautiful teens, and let’s just hope they will be famous for their good behavior, and not infamous for their bad.
