I couldn’t just pick one. This first song has been with me since I can remember, but fortunately I got married on the beach and didn’t need a song, but if I did this most certainly would have been top choice. The group is Shai, and I’m not sure what happened to them, but I thought they were the bomb back in the day.

Shai-Together Forever
[/coolplayer]
Since I am an hopeless old school romantic, I had to include some Teddy Pendagrass. I skipped my obvious choice of Lionel Richie to play this song because it’s just a feel good song…

Teddy Pendagrass – Latest Greatest Inspiration
[/coolplayer]
Last but not least, I had to play something by the Lady of Soul, Anita Baker. The words of this song is powerful, don’t make crazy promises just vow to give your best…

Ms G,you have some fantastic choices. I was a fan of Shai as well, but you got my girl Anita Baker, She is fantastic. Teddy is the old school music lovers dream man. He had the grooves back in the day. I love your choices this week

I enjoyed your wedding pics. So in love!
Is it me or does Teddy resemble your husband! :D
My sister’s wedding song was Anita Baker’s “Just Because.”

@ SJP: Since it seems to be growing, I think we will find a permanent place to put the theme of the week. This week I posted the theme in the comment sections of all the participants, and MarvalusOne put up a post, but now it’s time for a new system. I’ll e-mail you the details once we iron them out.

I love that Anita Baker song. Her voice is so amazing, it comes from way back in her throat. The sentiment of this song is so moving as “the best that we got” is continually expanding and never ending.
I am so glad that you have joined us for April 13th’s In Solidarity: Global Day for Darfur blogblast. I have to add a few more people to the participant link list.
I have a suggestion for a permanent space for the theme of the week. Since blogger is free and the name is available you could start a new blog for the Old School Music Meme which we can easily subscribe to the feed to find out the theme for the week. I know you can have multiple owners at blogger too. Just a suggestion that came to mind.
In light and love
“See” you Sunday.
Danielle

Anita is my favorite of the 3. But I have to admit I hadn’t heard that one by Shai before. Good choices!

Looks like some great choices but I’m having technical difficulties with the embedded media player. I’ll try again tomorrow!

How beautiful! I plan to have what I call the “Martin and Gina” wedding too so I probably will only have a sax player or something. I really like this song by Shai. I don’t remember it though. You gonna have me digging in the crates for real!
You already know how I feel about that Teddy!
Mmmm…that Anita felt good! Giving You the BEST that I got. Perfect song. Real lyrics that are saying SOMETHING. That song, along with a lot of others by her are on my Top Songs list.
Good stuff, lady :) Thanks again for this meme.

Awwww man MG. I thought that Regina had thrown down, which she did. But Teddy and Anita and these two songs are just rich. Excellent picks.

i have a new love for the teddy p jump-off; i had never heard the song beforehand, but i am feelin’ it now. anita baker-you simply can’t wrong with her; ‘giving you the best that i got’ is one of my favorite albums by her, but actually my favorite song from that album is ‘priceless’. nice beach wedding pics. perhaps the next time around, i will do a nice resort-style wedding; that is the plan :-]
