There are very few girl groups, but the 80′s had a few of my favorites. This group was sexy and talented. I still jam their songs on my iPod. They were a bit edgy for their time, even by today’s standards…

Great songs. Vanity 6 comes to mind when I saw these videos, another sexy girl band.
I love braids with wooden beads.
Have a great weekend!
Much love

I remember the Mary Jane Girls! I think they were Rick Jame’s backup singers too. These cuts were standards at any jam we went to back then. Good choices.
Peace

Happy OSF! Mary Jane Girls were tremendous back in the day. Rick James had them and Prince had his girl group as well. I guess the name of the Mary Jane Girls came directly from Rick James’ song in honor of marijuana –> Mary Jane.
My Old School Friday posting today features The Whispers.
peace, Villager

“The Mary Jane Girls were the product of punk-funkster Rick James.”
I didn’t know that!
OSF can be more of just pure enjoyment we get to learn something as well.

You can tell by the sex appeal that it was Rick James, only two men could pull off a group like this, Prince with Vanity 6 or Rick James with the MJG.

The Mary Jane Girls were hot because they could really sing. I was disappointed when they broke up because the alternative was Vanity 6 and they had one song that was worth listening to. LOL

I couldn’t get the first one to play but “All Night Long” was enough! One of my theme songs
Excellent performance as well. The fly-by-night one or two girl groups that are around today could take a lesson.
Girl groups is a great theme. There was so many back in the day. I have one song in particular that I’m thinking of that’s one of my favorites but I’m keeping it on the low. I plan to use it soon for SOMETHING.
