This guy is a cross between J Holiday and Usher, and I love his energy and I think this will be one those songs that get stuck in your head. Nicole Ari Parker is back. I am so happy, I think she is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, and I loved her in Boogie Nights. Anyway she and husband, Boris Kodjoe, made guest appearances at the Universal Pictures World Premiere of Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins. This film has so many stars including: Martin Lawrence, Margaret Avery, Joy Bryant, Michael Clarke Duncan, Mike Epps, Mo’Nique, Nicole Ari Parker, Cedric the Entertainer and James Earl Jones. Black love in Hollywood is alive.

I am disappointed in Kelly Rowland, this is an example of poor wardrobe taste. It makes her seem desperate, and sometimes “any press just isn’t always good press”. These pictures were taking of Kelly Rowland as she performed at club G-A-Y Astoria in London. I understand these party can be edgy, but I guess it’s the poor record sales that make me suspect of Kelly Rowland’s choice. If she had performed in this get up at the height of Destiny Child’s career, maybe I would have accepted it more. Actually, if it had just a little bit more fabric, it wouldn’t be so bad.

UPDATE: According to Pop-Junkie, Jaime Foxx is indeed preparing for a role in the movie, The Soloist. In the movie, Foxx plays the part of Nathaniel Ayers, “a schizophrenic, homeless musician who went from Skid Row in Los Angeles to playing at Walt Disney Concert Hall.” I’m glad it’s good news, and I can’t wait to see the movie. Judging by the physical change in appearance, this movie should be stellar.
I was passing through Bossip, when I saw these pictures of Jaime Foxx at the Pepsi STUFF launch. Something is very different about him, and I’m not talking about the Malcom X look, either. Bossip describes him as sickly, but maybe he is preparing for a new role that requires him to lose weight. I almost didn’t recognize him, I thought to myself, “Samuel Jackson at it again.”

It’s so sad he was only 28 and had a great future in front of him. He leaves behind a two year old daughter, Matilda, that he shared with ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams of Dawson Creek fame. I don’t understand why people do drugs, and think that they will be different, that they will not succumb to the power of the drug, and that they can kick the habit whenever they want. I want go over-board, because I do respect the loss of others, no matter how they died, but this is tragic, unnecessarily tragic. Considering the fact that her parents are Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz, I’m not shocked. I think she has a unique style and the face to pull off this ridiculousness. Compared to some of the things her parents did with their hair, this is nothing. I always wonder why people do things like this, and expect others not to stare. Honestly, I don’t think it’s that bad.

It’s back to unreality and the first story I come across is that Eddie Murphy and Tracy Edmonds call it quits. They just got fake married two weeks ago, and now they have decided to not get married legally, and remain friends. Inquiring minds want to know. What do you think happened?
“After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further,” Murphy and Edmonds tell PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. “While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.” [People.com]

 The 2008 presidential election is a seminal historical point in determining the direction of the United States. Our country’s leaders must deal with issues of healthcare, economics, foreign policy, immigration and others that directly affect every American’s life. The difference in 2008 is that we have two viable candidates for a major party presidential nomination who are not white males.
It is important that all Americans who are eligible to vote do so this year. Many of the issues on the national agenda have a disproportionate effect on the Black community. Yet, past voter turnout by eligible Blacks continues to lag behind.
With those factors in mind, the Afroshpere Action Coalition has initiated a ‘Proud Black Voter‘ movement to encourage people of African descent to vote in 2008. The ‘Proud Black Voter‘ blog hopes to:
- inform the public about the importance of the need to vote
- help facilitate people registering to vote
- encourage greater voter registration and election participation within the Black community
In regards to the importance of voting, music mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs states, “people have died to have that right. When the president is running your country, he is running you.” Political commentator, Armstrong Williams, echoes that very sentiment and explains why it’s important for black people in particular to vote, “we [blacks] must go to the poll and pull that lever, not just for you, but what it has taken for you to be here” (Bnet.com November 14, 2007).
LaTonya Johnson (aka Mrs. Grapevine) started the discussions leading to creation of this Proud Black Voter blog. She wrote, “I am an avid voter…hopefully we can get Black people moving so that we can vote in the Presidential Election in record numbers.”
Wayne Hicks (aka Villager) is participating in the Proud Black Voter blog because he sees it as “…a tangible way to use the growing influence of Black bloggers to influence the actions of our readers for the greater good. It is a way to use cyberspace to uplift people of African descent by pointing out ways for them to get registered and vote no mater where they live … or who they want to support.”
The Afrosphere Action Coalition asks all blogs and websites operated by people of African descent to participate by prominently displaying one of the six Proud Black Voter buttons on their blog or website. The HTML widget reads ‘Proud Black Voter…Join Me Now, Register to Vote’ and can be placed on anyone’s blog or webpage with a link back to the Proud Black Voter blog to obtain information on voter registration, voter rights, and other voting issues.
This is a nonpartisan effort to increase participation in the political process. New York Times Report:
WHITE PLAINS — Marion Jones, the track and field star who pleaded guilty in October to lying to federal agents about her use of performance-enhancing drugs and her connection to a check-fraud case, was sentenced to six months in prison at the United States District Court here on Friday.
United States District Judge Kenneth M. Karras’s decision on jail time agreed with the recommendations of prosecutors and sentencing guidelines, which were well below the maximum five years that she faced. But he also ordered her to perform 400 hours of community service during each of her two years of probation.
For about 20 minutes, the judge explained his reasoning, saying that although she admitted to the crimes, he was not convinced that she had come clean about her knowledge of the drugs that she was taking.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so happy to be pregnant. Halle Berry looks radiant in her InStyle photo shoot, showing off her baby bump. I love baby bumps and I am so glad we are free to take pictures like this. Just think 20 years ago this idea was taboo, and women were walking around wearing moo-moos.

I am happy I feel she needs a break, because I need a break, too. It’s getting hard to track her across the globe and to blog about her many endeavors.
