Someone thought it would be a good idea to get all the video “models” together for a summit to discuss issues that are important to them. I will try not to be sarcastic while writing this, but trust it will be hard. Are there really that many issues to have a summit? One of the things they talk about is not having respect, people not knowing that they are articulate and intelligent women with real goals. I know shaking your assets takes a lot of skills and morals, I just don’t know how everyone else missed it. Another topic of interest was Karrine Steffans, they used several choice words to describe Ms. Superhead and vixen wasn’t one of them. Last but not least is the message to young women to be something different. I’, confused I thought video “modeling” was a respectable job for young women, after all video models are articulate and quite intelligent, some even have their own business, yet chose to do this. All I have to say about this video is Vixen, please.
Let me know, what’s your favorite part of the video.

They know what they are doing when they get in front of that camera gyratin’ like that. Video girls will never get the respect they are looking for because the folks they work with or for are not respectable; I mean who really respects 50 Cent or Soulja Boy!?
if you want respect, then do something that will get you that respect. Shakin’ your booty on TV ain’t a way to get it babygirl and if you know this, then do not complain, just keep shakin’!

All I have to say is you have to respect yourself before others will respect you.

I have to disagree — there’s such a double standard. These women are working, playing a role dictated by the directors and producers of the videos, having very little say in what they do in the videos once they’re hired. It’s their job — did you ever find yourself in a job you didn’t like but couldn’t afford to walk away from? I bet many of these women are in the same position. And back to the double standard — how many of us watch those videos? We are just as responsible by consuming the dumbed-down formula that most rap videos have become as are the directors, producers, artists, and, yes, vixens who keep churning it out. Ultimately, I can’t place ridicule or blame with the women. They’re trying to make a living and get on with their lives, and they’re basically selling hip hop videos, helping to make the people behind the scenes rich while getting paid maybe $500 a video. I hope they DO form a union. And in the meantime maybe the rest of us can target the whole establishment of bumping grinding hip hop videos, rather than the women who play the roles.

@EJM: I’m glad you presented the other side of the argument, but these women don’t do this for a living. If they were strippers I would be more inclined to agree with you. The thing is these women don’t have to do it, they all admitted that they aren’t making any money, so what is the point? Why do we need half-naked women in videos. If all the women said no we won’t do this, then those artist will have to use their brains and find more creative ways to market videos without objectifying women.
I’m not one to say who should do what with their life, but many of the reasons for being a video vixen is superficial, and you have to suffer the backlash if you choose that route. One story I really don’t understand is the woman who said she was a Realtor who owned a model agency. If real estate is her bread and butter then why is she in a video.
The true problem are the young naive girls who get caught up in this industry thinking it is something that it’s not. They I feel sorry for and I think one girl said it best, it’s not glamorous and it’s not cool. And honestly I would probably defend a prostitute or a stripper before I would a video vixen. Usually people strip and prostitute out of disparity, and that’s just not the case with video vixens. I’m sorry it’s a double standard, you can’t pop your but cheek on camera for the exposure, and then go to wall street and expect me to have respect for you.
Disclaimer: That’s not for all video models, there are some who present themselves in respectful manners and demand respect. To me that’s the difference between video model and video vixen.

I’m about to get my vixen on!! Let me stop MG, these girls use trying to get ahead as an excuse to skin out their bodies. i don’t think they realize that they can be sexy and covered up at the same time.
if the artist in the video has on a bubble jacket you should have one on too, not a bikini and high socks

I get so tired of people looking for respect in professions where not much respect is due. No one is making any of these women put on a thong and “shake it” for a couple hundred bucks.
