Sorry, I can’t wish you a Happy Halloween, but I do hope you have a safe one. My family and I opted out of this holiday, and so we do not celebrate or partake in its traditions. In lieu of Halloween, I have posted one of my favorite videos performed by a teen Christian drama group. It’s really powerful and requires 5 minutes of your time. The ending is the best so if you can’t watch it all you need to watch the last half. These teens are amazing. Enjoy!

In an early post we saw Keyshia Cole on Tyra opening up about growing up with a mother on drugs. Ms. Cole has yet another revealing interview in the December issue of Vibe Magazine. I’m not sure why she needs to be topless, but I guess she’s bearing it all, pun intended. To see her candid interview on Tyra, click here. I always wondered if Thandie Newton had kids, or if she is or was married. Now I know, she has been married since 1997 and has two daughters. Here are some pics of Thandi Newton with her two daughters, Ripley (7), and Nico (2). I also just learned that her mother was a Zambabwean Shona Princess. I didn’t know Thandie was from Zambia, Africa. Her full name is Thandiwe and it means “Beloved”.

I was trying to find out what was going on with my boy Larenz Tate when I came across this photo of him, his wife Tomasina, and son Miles Xavier at Concreteloop.

Anyway I have good news, Larenz Tate has a role in the pilot of new cop series on NBC titled Blue Blood. According to EURweb, “Larenz Tate is set to play a character named Andre. It will mark his first network gig since CBS’ short-lived comedy Love Monkey. The actor currently has a recurring role on the FX cable series Rescue Me.

The blog world is buzzing about how great Serena Williams was looking at the Louis Vuitton Murakami Exhibition Gala in Los Angeles this past weekend. I will have to agree, she looks amazing. Joy Bryant was also there. She’s one of my favorite under rated people. Joy’s outfit just may drive that point home. I’m not feeling her style, but she is beautiful nonetheless.

Sometimes you assume things about people without knowing who they really are. When Keyshia Cole first came out I thought to myself not another attitude, but when you learn about her past, you realize that attitude is part of coping and surviving an insane environment. I hope she continues to succeed and not become self-destructive. I like Keyshia Cole and I love her voice, although some people think she can’t sing. You either love her style or hate it. If you haven’t seen her BET reality show then you definitely need to take some time to watch this clip from Tyra.

I actually felt bad about calling people crack-heads. I was starting to think it was mean and kind of cruel, and that’s not the kind of site I want. I like celebrities and I am not trying to tear them down, but then I saw this picture of Dennis Rodman, and I immediately thought crackhead . Only someone who needs negative attention would do this, so crackhead it is. I understand it’s Halloween and I understand it’s a party, but I don’t understand Dennis Rodman.

I was tagged by Lisa C to spread the word. This month is breast cancer awareness month and as it comes to an end, I want to remind everyone over the age of 21 to get a mammogram. I know some of you feel you are too young, and you are right breast cancer is rare among those younger than 40. However, I know someone who’s only 27 and fighting her fourth bout with breast cancer. If you have history of breast cancer in your family please get check, always better safe than sorry. The earlier you know that easier it is to fight. The five year survival rate for breast cancer is now 84% and that’s mostly due to early detection and informed awareness.

If you are an African-American woman which I know the majority of you are, please go get a check-up. African-American women have a lower survival rate because of access to proper medical care, elective medical care.

The Simmons area back for another season. The whole family promoted the show on TRL to kick off the new season. Kerry Washington and Common were also there to promote Common’s new video, I Want You, directed by Kerry Washington. This public union just fuels the gossip. Rumor has it that Kerry Washington and Common are an item; so we will just have to wait to see what happens.

Condoleezza Rice is bout it bout it, in this photo, I mean can we just say she ain’t never scared. All kidding aside, a protester from  from the Code Pink Organization came awfully close to touching Ms. Rice doing a capitol hill demonstration. Apparently, this organization likes to disrupt meetings and political sessions with anti-war protest. I am just happy Condi kept her cool because the look on her face suggested that Condi wanted to do a lot more to the little protester in her face.

Finally a book that celebrate black men as fathers, DAUGHTERS OF MEN: PORTRAITS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN AND THEIR FATHERS, a book by Rachel Vassel, is a tribute to the black men that helped their daughters become successful.

Foxy Brown was sentenced to 76 days in solitaire after a fight with another inmate at Rikers Island. This is the second incident for Foxy Brown, who had an altercation with another inmate just earlier this month. According to public records, Foxy was abusive toward correctional guards and refused to take a random drug test. Talk about pattern, I just knew jail would straighten her out, but obviously Ms. Brown has a temper problem or a drug problem or both.
