Melanie B files paternity action gainst former boyfriend, Eddie Murphy, in hopes that he’ll step up to the plate and take an active role in Angel Iris’s life. In the suit, Brown asks for “reasonable” child support.

The petition, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday, seeks to establish Murphy as the legal father. Brown is also asking for sole custody of the child and “reasonable” child support.
“I am here today for one reason and one reason only; her name is Angel,” Brown said at a press conference. “Angel is my baby and Eddie’s. She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us.”
The Spice Girl’s sound bite-friendly attorney, Gloria Allred, said the legal showdown was prompted by Murphy’s “shocking and appalling conduct since he learned Ms. Brown was pregnant.” She issues a four-page statement lambasting Murphy for buying his fiancée “a big diamond ring,” while ignoring Angel.
“When a star such as Murphy turns his back on his own baby, it sends an unacceptable message to other single fathers around the world,” Allred said. “I’m telling you, Mr. Murphy, it’s all over…We’ve seen you in the movies, and now we look forward to seeing you in court.”

Update: Just after the wedding was scuttled, Usher flew alone to his estranged mother Jonetta Patton ’s house in Atlanta, amid rumors that he couldn’t go through with the ceremony without her. Foster, four months pregnant, followed him to Atlanta, telling People magazine she had a baby scare during the tumultuous weekend.
But sources close to Usher’s family say she used the baby as a “ploy to get Usher to talk to her,” and they are unsure whether there was a baby scare at all. [Source]

Former child star Gary Coleman was cited for disorderly conduct after witnesses said they saw him in a heated argument with a woman in a parking lot.
Coleman, 39, and the woman were in his vehicle discussing their relationship Friday night when two people saw him hit the steering wheel with his hands, Capt. Cliff Argyle said.
“Mr. Coleman was very excited and loud. … At one point he exited his vehicle, waving his arms, yelling and screaming,” Argyle said. “Vehicles were unable to exit the parking lot because of Mr. Coleman’s actions.”
He cooperated with officers who were called to the scene, Argyle said.
The disorderly conduct citation is a misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail and a $750 fine. [Source]
